Locanda del Parco di Portofino
The five rooms in the small seafaring hamlet of San Fruttuoso di Camogli, can be the end point of an amazing excursion or a fascinating boat tour, and give the possibility to live a unique experience.
San Fruttuoso is a collection of the Mediterranean world, a concentration of its history and nature, art and tradition, colours and aromas.
This isolated hamlet, sheltered in its cove, offers many possibilities, from the local cuisine to a visit to the centuries-old Abbey or to the military installations dating back to World War II. Besides a traditional dip in the sea, it is possible to scuba dive, make a boat trip to the Cristo degli Abissi, reach good birdwatching places and make excursions to Portofino, Camogli and Santa Margherita.
On your return, your room shall be a little refuge between sky, land and sea, where you can decant and recall the emotions of the day, cradled by the sound of waves.
The rooms owe their name to the treasures of the hamlet of San Fruttuoso and the Park in general: flora, fauna, nature as a whole, history of the territory and of man. The furniture that has been chosen for each room reflects the theme of the room, which is resumed in the name: like a suggestion, a reason to stay, the choice to stay.
A stay in San Fruttuoso requires a certain planning and the awareness that arrival and departure by boat cannot always be assured, in relation to the marine weather conditions. According to statistics, the probability of rough sea, with suspension of boat service, during the year is 15-20%.
Therefore, not only when you reach the hamlet, but also when you decide to stay at the lodge, you have to consider the event of walking back, even under the rain (on average, in the Park of Portofino it rains 70 to 80 days a year, with a total rainfall of 1000 mm).
There are no shops in the hamlet, nor any other steady business; the different restaurants are mainly open during summer and spring. So, when the last boat leaves San Fruttuoso, you are immersed in a days of yore environment. This fascinating contact with nature must be experienced with the right awareness.
Your possessions have to be lightweight, possibly arranged in a backpack and not in a trolley, and must include hiking boots, rain cloths and some food for an eventual hike back in case of bad marine weather conditions.
